At CAW we believe that engaging young people through art unlocks creativity. Creativity allows them to express and trust themselves. It builds a spirit of inquiry and exploration. with explorers' spirits, they fall in love with learning. Add caring and life skills, and they are empowered to take charge of their lives.
Fewer than 50% of NYC’s public schools offer the required arts programming that can make a real difference for children at risk. Very few families in Upper Manhattan communities are able to provide that programming on their own. Each year, we serve thousands of those young people through art — both in and out of school. Creative Art Works’ efforts benefit our entire NYC community, addressing poverty, community development, waning arts education, and urban blight in our own backyard. |
$15,000 from The GMF has helped put creative art to work, so young NYers can develop the personal and professional skills to meaningfully shape their futures for the better.
