ABOUT THE GLENN MARKMAN FOUNDATIONThe Glenn Markman Foundation champions young adults by supporting arts, athletic and educational programs that will enrich their lives and create a better future. Enrichment is at the heart of everything we do.
Our aim is to enable kids all over the city to learn and grow in productive and safe environments, and to lead them on a path to follow their dreams. 100% of the money raised by the GMF goes to the carefully-vetted non profits we support. All administrative costs are covered by our Board of Directors. Why we do it: Glenn embodied the meaning of community through his gift of connecting with people, his love of NYC and the arts it breathes to life. He taught others to do the same, which is the heart and spirit of The Glenn Markman Foundation. |

ABOUT OUR FOUNDER
Glenn was a real estate investor, broker, business owner, board member, partner, son, brother, husband, father, friend, mentor, coach and fan.
Born and raised in Bensonhurst, he focused his career on the NYC real estate market for 20 years. As a Vice Chairman at Cushman & Wakefield, he represented the Brooklyn Nets, Brooklyn Brewery, Michael Kors, MakerBot and many other major tenants in all 5 boroughs. Together with his brother, Greg, he was a co-owner of the Heights Café and Dellarocco’s of Brooklyn, both located in Brooklyn Heights. He sat on several boards- The Brooklyn Navy Yard and Downtown Brooklyn Partnership to name a few, and was a co- founder of a music based media platform called BKLYN1834. He was an officer on the board of the Trevor Day School in Manhattan, where his son, Clio, and daughter, Edie, attended. |
He was a proud husband and father. At his children’s games he could be heard cheering on their teams from the sidelines as a fan and sometimes a coach. He had a passion for all genres and enjoyed going to concerts. Glenn never missed a party and always ended up on the dance floor. He loved his New York sports teams and went to games often.
There have been many tributes to celebrate Glenn’s impact on his community. The Jewish Community House of Bensonhurst’s annual Glenn Markman MVP Award is presented to the most outstanding student athlete who has shown commitment to his or her community. Urban Dove awards the annual Glenn Markman Scholarship to a promising college bound student. Cushman and Wakefield presents the Glenn Markman award annually to a promising young broker who has distinguished himself from his or her peers. The Trevor Day School named their gym The Glenn Markman Gymnasium. The Brooklyn Nets honored Glenn by dedicating their practice facility in Industry City, to him in February of 2016. Through all of these honors, Glenn’s spirit and his legacy live on.
